Detroit Lions dealt major blow as cornerback Terrion Arnold will have season-ending surgery

  • December 2, 2025

DETROIT – Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold will miss the rest of the season as he is scheduled to undergo surgery.

NFL Insider Tom Pelissero broke the news on X, saying Arnold is scheduled for shoulder surgery this week.

The second-year defensive back was placed on injured reserve per the team’s injury report on Monday (Dec. 1) and was expected to miss at least the team’s next four games.

Arnold had missed two games earlier this season with a shoulder injury that many believed had ended his season.

It is not clear whether the procedure is to repair the same shoulder.

Arnold was active for the Lions’ Thanksgiving Day game loss to the Green Bay Packers after clearing concussion protocol and suffered a shoulder injury in the matchup.

The former Alabama Crimson Tide star was selected with the 29th pick of the 2024 season by the Lions, who traded up five spots with the Dallas Cowboys, who just so happen to play each other on Thursday Night Football to kick off Week 14.

With the Lions, Arnold’s career has been seesawing due to his aggressive play, which has led to flags being thrown his way a time or two.

But Arnold had found his footing this season before the injury occurred.

With him being sidelined, Detroit will look to stop the passing attack of Dak Prescott, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, and George Pickens with the help of D.J. Reed, Amik Robertson, and Rock Ya-Sin.
