INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Colts lost to the Texans, 20-16, on Sunday.
It was their third loss in their last four games.
The loss dropped the Colts to 8-4 on the season and into a tie for first place in the AFC South.
WISH-TV Colts Insider Kevin Bowen shared what he learned from the loss.
“They’ve got to prove themselves,” Bowen said.
Bowen has covered the Colts for 15 years and is a radio host for 107.5 The Fan, hosting “The Fan Morning Show.” This is his third season as WISH-TV’s Colts Insider.
“You played from ahead for so much of the season,” Bowen said. “You’ve earned the right to be here in December at 8-4, but to win that first division title in over a decade, you got to take it to another level. Yesterday, I thought Houston was the better team.”
Bowen shared what he wants to see from Colts head coach Shane Steichen in the last five games.
“You had chances, both sides of the ball, to make those plays in the fourth quarter, and so much of this league is about one possession, one score games,” Bowen said. “Right now, on both sides of it, the Colts inability to sustain drives offensively, very different from what we saw earlier in the year, and then defensively, I don’t think we can let that group off the hook right now. They’ve been on the field way too much in the last two weeks.”
Colts quarterback Daniel Jones threw for over 200 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday despite playing through a leg injury.
“He made some really nice throws yesterday,” Bowen said. “But having said that, there are limitations with this offense right now… With him confined to the pocket, it puts just more stress on your passing offense.”
The Colts have another crucial game on Sunday, going on the road to play the Jacksonville Jaguars. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
