Week 13 closes out with a Northeast battle between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots. At 2-10, the Giants were the first team mathematically eliminated from playoff contention this season and have already parted ways with former head coach Brian Daboll and defensive coordinator Shane Bowen. Meanwhile, the Patriots have been invigorated by new head coach Mike Vrabel as they sit atop the NFL with a league-best 10-2 record.

The best the Giants can hope for at this point is potentially playing spoiler to would-be playoff-bound teams down the stretch. They’ve lost six consecutive games, and their first-round rookie quarterback, Jaxson Dart, finally returned to practice this past week from concussion protocol. New York poured in a valiant effort last week in an overtime loss to Detroit, 34-27. Jameis Winston filled in for Dart and passed for 366 yards and two touchdowns in defeat. If they can bring the same effort against New England, this game could be closer than expected.

New England is back to its winning ways after a few down years. Former Super Bowl-winning linebacker and now Pats coach, Vrabel has brought that mystique back to this Patriots franchise, and they look poised to make their way into the postseason as the No. 1 seed in the AFC. They’ve won nine in a row, and Drake Maye looks more comfortable with each game that passes. Right now, they look like the team to beat in the AFC.

That’s a quick stop for the Giants, thanks in part to a sack from Zaire Barnes on second down, and the Patriots will punt it away here.

New York is getting it back with about 11 minutes left, down by 15.

Now that’s how you start a quarter. Devin Singletary just ran in a 22-yard touchdown on a direct snap and a fake pitch to Jaxson Dart.

They went for the 2-point conversion, and got it after a long scramble from Dart in the backfield.

The Patriots lead 30-15 now early in the fourth.

This game has slowed way down, but the Patriots are still in control here.

The Giants are driving, and will come back at the New England 25 to start the final period.

Andy Borregales was perfect up until now, but he just pulled a 45-yard field goal attempt wide left.

The Giants will take over now, but they’re running out of time to make a comeback. A touchdown here, and fast, is going to be critical.

The Giants quickly got across midfield, but their drive stalled out almost immediately. The Patriots pushed them back on third down for a loss of three, too, and then Jaxson Dart missed Theo Johnson on fourth down.

So New England will take over.

The Giants have received the kick, and the third quarter is officially underway.

This has been all New England so far tonight. The Patriots just added three more points to close the first half after a 28-yard field goal from Andy Borregales, and they’re up big at the break.

Rhamondre Stevenson just picked up 35 yards easily after the Giants left him wide open on the left side of the field. The Pats are now in position to add more points before the break after gaining 58 yards in just three plays.

Hodgins was just shy of the first down marker after a catch on third down, and then the Giants failed to get the Pats to jump on fourth-and-one. They’ll instead take the penalty and punt it away again.

New England will get the ball back now with a little more than a minute left.

The Patriots struggled to get much going after that fumble, but a field goal works. Borregales is good from 30 yards out, and their lead is now 27-7 with 1:48 left in the half.

That was a ridiculous hit on the kickoff there, which forced a fumble and gave the Patriots the ball right back.

Gunner Olszewski needed a lot of help to walk off the field after taking a shot directly to his helmet, and he went straight to the medical tent. Part of the Giants’ logo was ripped right off his helmet, too. That’s how big the hit was. Somehow, though, no penalty.

Just five plays after that wild failed kick from Younghoe Koo, the Patriots have extended their lead. Drake May threw a dime to Kyle Williams in the corner of the end zone, and they now lead 24-7 late in the first half.

The Giants settled for a field goal attempt after Theo Johnson couldn’t hang on to a deep pass in the end zone from Jaxson Dart.

Then Younghoe Koo straight up failed to kick the ball on a 47-yard attempt. He kicked the ground instead. Seriously.

Here’s how it looked from the end zone.

And here’s how it looked from field level.

That’s one of the most bizarre things ever seen on an NFL field. And instead of a touchdown or a field goal, the Giants walked away with no points and a 17-7 deficit.

Ryan YoungMon, December 1, 2025 at 6:08 PM PST

The Giants sacked Drake Maye on third down there to complete the quick three-and-out, and they’ll get the ball back in great field position after an absolute shank of a punt.

A score here would completely change the game. Let’s see what they can do…

There they are. Jaxson Dart just found Darius Slayton in the middle of the field, and he managed to fight his way 30 yards and just barely into the end zone.

The Patriots’ lead is 17-7 now early in the second.

The Patriots are in full control of this one at the first break. They added another touchdown, too, after Drake Maye hit Kayshon Boutte for a 3-yard score late in the quarter.

Jason OwensMon, December 1, 2025 at 5:45 PM PST

Jaxson Dart just took a big hit, and it ultimately cost the Giants. Patriots linebacker hit Dart legally as Dart was running toward the sideline out of bounds.

The hit sent Dart flying, and Giants players led by tight end Theo Johnson ran to Dart’s defense, sparking a scuffle. The hit on Dart was legal. The retaliation by Johnson was not, and Johnson drew a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

Instead of third-and-1, the Giants faced third-and-16 and didn’t convert. They’ve punted back to the Patriots with a 10-0 deficit.

Jason OwensMon, December 1, 2025 at 5:35 PM PST

The Patriots are suddenly up two possessions.

New York punted after gaining 15 yards on its first possession, and Marcus Jones made them pay. The Patriots punt returner broke free down the left sideline for a 94-yard punt return to give New England a 10-0 lead with 5:17 remaining in the first quarter.

A rough start for a Giants team that came into tonight as a big underdog.

Mon, December 1, 2025 at 5:25 PM PST

The Patriots started with good field position after a 39-yard kickoff return and drove into the red zone. But they bogged down inside the 10-yard line and settled for a field goal after failing to reach the end zone from first-and-goal at the 7-yard line.

New England leads 3-0 early.
