Marvin Harrison Jr. Injury Update

Harrison suffered a heel injury during Sunday’s game and was unable to continue in the second half. Head coach Jonathan Gannon confirmed after the contest that the heel problem forced Harrison to exit and prevented him from returning.

The second-year receiver had an insert placed in his shoe at one point during the game, but later removed it. He was seen limping on the field in the second half after catching a pass before the Cardinals pulled him from the contest.

Harrison mentioned after the match that he would undergo further evaluation. The team has not provided additional details on the severity of the heel injury or a timeline for his return.

Given that Harrison was able to play through the injury for a portion of the game, that suggests it isn’t overly serious. However, it’s definitely a concern, especially considering he just returned from missing two weeks due to emergency appendix surgery.

The Cardinals have five weeks left in a lost season at 3-9. There is no sense in pushing Harrison if he’s not healthy. The organization should prioritize their young receiver’s long-term health over forcing him onto the field in meaningless December games.

Fantasy managers will have to see how Harrison responds after a few days of rest and whether he can practice on Wednesday. His practice participation throughout the week will be critical in determining his availability for Sunday’s game against the Rams.

If Harrison cannot practice Wednesday, that would raise serious doubts about his status for Week 14. The Cardinals have shown a willingness to be cautious with injuries this season, and there’s no reason to change that approach now.

Before exiting with the heel injury, Harrison looked great in his return. He caught six passes for 69 yards on seven targets. His performance demonstrated he had fully recovered from the appendectomy and was ready to resume his role as Arizona’s primary receiving threat.

Harrison’s Fantasy Outlook

Harrison’s injury status creates uncertainty for fantasy managers navigating the playoff push. If he misses time, Michael Wilson would once again ascend to the WR1 role.

Wilson saw 33 targets in the two games Harrison missed due to the appendectomy. With Harrison back in Week 13, Wilson received only seven targets. The target distribution clearly shows Wilson’s value is directly tied to Harrison’s availability.

If Harrison cannot play in Week 14, Wilson should resume the larger workload he handled during the previous two-week stretch. He posted back-to-back games with at least 10 receptions and over 100 receiving yards when operating as the clear WR1.

Fantasy managers rostering Harrison should have contingency plans ready. Monitor Wednesday’s practice report closely. If he’s a full or limited participant, confidence in his availability and effectiveness increases substantially. A DNP would signal trouble for his Week 14 status.
