Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen took aim at former Steelers offensive lineman Trai Essex after the team’s loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, stating that Essex’s career was all about him being carried.

Essex, who has become a sports analyst following his career, called out the signing of Queen as an abject failure by the Steelers.

“He’s hurt, but I’m over the Patrick Queen experiment,” Essex wrote on X. “Simply put, he’s not a Steelers LB. He’s not (James) Farrior. He’s not (Lawrence) Timmons. He’s not (Ryan) Shazier. He doesn’t play with that disposition. We missed on that signing. And for our main rival to let him leave, shoulda been a sign.”

Queen hit back at Essex for the comment. Essex has been continually critical of Queen throughout the season, and his definitive statement seemingly struck a wrong chord with Queen.

“Never was a pro bowler or all pro but get on here yappin . Got carried your whole career back n forth from the bench stfu,” Queen said on X in response to Essex.

Queen is in the second year of a three year contract with the Steelers, but the team can move on this offseason if they would like to do that.

He suffered a lower back bruise against the Bills and could end up missing the upcoming game against the Ravens, which will be for the division lead.
