The Eagles on Tuesday opened the 21-day practice window for safety Marcus Epps, who has been on Injured Reserve since Nov. 1.

Epps, 29, has missed the last four games on IR so he is eligible to return as early as Monday night in Los Angeles against the Chargers.

The veteran could help bolster a position that is without rookie Drew Mukuba, who suffered a fractured ankle that needed surgery late against the Cowboys. Mukuba is on Injured Reserve and there’s a chance his rookie season is over.

But getting Epps back could help. The Eagles started veteran Sydney Brown next to Reed Blankenship against the Bears and Brown had a shaky outing. It’s worth noting that it actually appeared as though Epps had passed Brown on the depth chart earlier this season. Epps got some snaps ahead of Brown in the middle of the season.

Epps in 2025 has played just 15 defensive snaps and 119 on special teams.

The Eagles initially signed Epps to their practice squad back on Aug. 28 after he was released by the Patriots. The Eagles elevated Epps the maximum three times from the practice squad and then signed him to their active roster on Sept. 24.

Epps first played for the Eagles from 2019-22, appearing in 54 games with 25 starts. Epps was a full-time starter for the 2022 Super Bowl team before signing a two-year contract with the Raiders that offseason. Epps starts all 17 games for the Raiders in 2023 but tore his ACL in the third game in 2024.

In addition to activating Epps’ practice window the Eagles also released veteran DB Parry Nickerson from the practice squad on Tuesday.
