GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Just in time for the holidays, the Detroit Lions are giving fans a bold new way to celebrate local spirit with the Grit City Spirits x Ferris Coffee espresso martini, a limited-edition, ready-to-drink cocktail rooted in Michigan pride.
Available Dec. 9 at select spirits retailers across the state, the collaboration celebrates all things Michigan.
The small-batch release blends Ferris Coffee’s signature dark roast blend with Grit City vodka and bourbon.
“We wanted to lean into the decadent nature of an espresso martini, so we wanted a coffee with notes of dark chocolate and heavy sweetness,” said Sam Mirto, Ferris Coffee Co. chief operating officer. “We also wanted to make a connection to our partnership with the Detroit Lions, using coffee that is featured in our Den Blend dark roast.”
The Michigan-based coffee and snack roaster has been crafting “snack and sip” essentials since 1924.
Family-owned and based in Grand Rapids, Ferris is dedicated to creating moments of joy and connection through specialty coffee, premium nuts and trail mixes.
Today, their products can be found nationwide.
Mirto said the majority of coffee used for the new collaborative beverage comes from a long-time partner of Ferris, a farm named El Vergel in the northern part of Guatemala.
The coffee checked all the boxes.
“We then brewed a concentrated dose of this coffee so the flavors would complement the other components of the beverage without getting lost,” he said.
The Grit City Spirits x Ferris Coffee espresso martini design commemorates the 90th anniversary of the Lions’ historic 1935 championship, with accents of iconic Honolulu blue, black and silver.
To enjoy, simply shake with ice and serve.
“The result is a rich, balanced, coffee-centric espresso martini,” Mirto said.
