Texas A&M is in the midst of one of its greatest seasons in program history. The Aggies finished the regular season at 11-1 with a statement win on the road against Notre Dame. Mike Elko’s squad looks to make a deep run in its first-ever College Football Playoff appearance. If Texas A&M finds postseason success, it will likely be because of the connection between Marcel Reed and KC Concepcion. The two have been among the best quarterback-wide receiver duos in the country. Concepcion came in as a transfer and has made a case as the SEC’s best wide receiver. He’s ascending draft boards as the season goes on. What makes Concepcion such a productive player, and how does he stack up in a deep 2026 wide receiver class?

2026 NFL Draft: KC Concepcion Early Scouting Report
Measurables

Height- 5-foot-11

Weight- 190 pounds

Background

Concepcion was overlooked coming out of Chambers (North Carolina). He was a three-star recruit and the 97th-ranked wide receiver in the Class of 2023. He committed to NC State and broke out as the top target in Raleigh as a true freshman. Concepcion led the Wolfpack in all major categories, recording 71 catches for 839 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2023. It appeared he would take the next step as a sophomore; however, that wasn’t the case. Concepcion regressed after a dominant freshman season, finishing 2024 with 53 receptions for 460 yards and six touchdowns.

After two seasons at NC State, Concepcion hit the transfer portal. He was the fifth-ranked wide receiver in the portal and joined Texas A&M in College Station. Following a sophomore slump, Concepcion bounced back with the Aggies. Through 12 games, he’s hauled in 57 catches for 886 yards and nine touchdowns. His production extends beyond offense, as he has two punt return touchdowns in 2025.

The first thing that jumps out when watching Concepcion is his route running. He creates separation with crisp movement and excels at beating man coverage. His football IQ is also impressive, sitting in the soft spots of zone coverage and finding open grass. Concepcion is a monster after the catch and is a player who can turn checkdowns into explosive plays. He is also incredibly versatile. Concepcion played primarily out of the slot his first two seasons, but has shifted to a Z-receiver on the boundary in 2025. His value isn’t just limited to catching passes, as he is also an excellent punt returner and can make plays out of the backfield.

Weaknesses

Concepcion’s frame is an area of concern at the next level, measuring in at 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds. His size raises questions about his ability to win against press coverage against NFL cornerbacks. He also doesn’t add much value as a blocker. Concepcion has also struggled with drops in college, having a 9% drop rate over three seasons.

Overview

The NFL Draft usually has plenty of talent at wide receiver, and 2026 looks to be no different. Concepcion is one of several potential first-round picks at the position. His route running and explosiveness after the catch make him a fit in any offense. He isn’t the biggest wide receiver available, but he has found success in both the slot and on the boundary. If he can cut down on the concentration drops, there’s no reason he can’t be a consistently effective player.

A good comparison for him would be Jordan Addison, a smaller receiver who wins with route running and speed over the middle. As of now, Concepcion projects as a fringe first-round pick, with his floor being an early second-rounder. It’s tough to say where exactly he’ll be selected because of the depth of this wide receiver class, but he is an excellent fit for the Bills and Steelers.
