Andy Reid updates injuries, says Chiefs must limit mistakes vs. Texans

Uh, the guys will not practice today are Roland Wallace, um. With his back, um, he is making progress and then Josh Simmons, um, ended up having surgery on that wrist, uh, for *** fracture and dislocation. Uh, he’ll go on to IR, um, and then we’ll just see about the recovery on that where it goes from there. Um, and then Trey and Jawan won’t practice today, but they, again, they’re making progress. Going forward, look forward to the challenge of playing the Texans, *** good football team. Domio’s done *** great job down there with that with that crew, um, and so we, we know we’ve got to have *** good week of practice and, uh, the guys weren’t here today, uh, getting that part. So anyways, so that time’s yours. That’s *** poll, by the way, will take that spot. Yeah, he’ll be the one. just on on Josh’s front, he’s been through so much kind of stuff this year. How disappointing is it for him? How’s he kind of doing on the emotional side of this about to go down for *** while? Yeah, so listen, your kid loves to play football and um, you know, that’s. Uh, that part, you know, he’s depressed about that part, you know, uh, that’s probably the wrong word, but he, he’s down about that part, um, but he’s upbeat. I mean, the, the surgery went well, which was, uh, which was *** real positive and, uh, so he, he feels good about that and then it’s just *** matter of coming back. He’s did *** great job with his knee coming back, you know, he’s *** worker, so he’s. Whatever he can do to rehab it, he’s gonna do this is how he rolls. Um, but yeah. The potential view here is hopefully have them available for the postseason. Is that what you’re probably looking for? Yeah, we’ll see how, see how that goes. Um, uh, they’ve got to wait just *** little bit on that, Hervey, and see how. See how that goes with, with, uh, with his recovery, but there’s always that chance. Trey and Jaylyn and one day probably one the line step up just uh are it might tell you that to how you’ve seen them all over the course of the year in practice? Yeah, I mean, the one positive is two of the three of them played against them last year, so, um, they’re *** good job, so they. Uh, they know what they’re, what they’re up against. That’s *** great defensive front, great defense. I mean, all three levels are, are really good and they’re number one in *** lot of categories there, so defensively, but those guys are, they’re getting themselves ready to go, yeah. Couple of moving parts there now on the offensive line. Is Jaylen Moore gonna be the first man up over on the left tackle, or you, you visiting probably right tackle with him? Yeah, well, we’ll see what happens with the injured guys first, but yeah, that would probably be, you’d probably be at the right tackle and one at the left if that’s the way it went. Coach, how important has Creed Humphrey been to these last couple of years? Yeah, um, Um, you know, all pro helpful. He’s ***, he’s *** great player there and um. And, and *** great person stable, so just, just, you’re gonna get the same thing every day and he’s gonna prep the same way, uh, every day and he’s dirty tough and strong, so. Smart Andy, when you look at just the four quarters that you guys have had, you guys have been in in every game, even the ones you’ve lost. So do you do something different to work on the execution in those moments? Yeah, you know, what we need to do is take care of the some of the little things, the penalty things. To take you out of drives so you’re not. scrambling, you know, as, as you go there, you just You gotta, you gotta clean that up and then some of that I got, you know, got to give the guys *** right. Plays to try to execute to their strengths. uh, coaching is part of it, playing is part of it, and we all have *** piece of that pie, yeah. Yeah, you surely against good teams, you, you can’t have the This, uh, discrepancy here distance between the other two penalties and your penalties, that’s, uh, that should, shouldn’t happen that way in *** football game, right or right or wrong, you know, so I’m, I’m not saying they’re all correct. I’m just saying one team’s got *** bunch and the other team. That’s not, that’s not good for anybody. The guys were able to get away for 3 or 14 days, I guess, as you approached these last 5. What was the message to, to the team as you as you attack it? Um, yeah, so it buys coaches time to go back and give them some answers to things and, uh, which are positive and then let’s go. So you’re, you’re in the month of December. And, and, uh, you’re still, still in it, so let’s go. That’s uh that’s what’s important and you mentioned it on Monday, but how do you get the pass rush going? Yeah, well. I can’t tell you exactly, but I mean we’re going to try and Make it better to start with, you’ve got to win some individual battles and um. Um, but there are other things that Spas Spas has that he uses there too, so. you mentioned their, their defense gets at the quarterback pretty well. What specifically is it about Houston’s defense that you’ve seen over, especially over this past little bit where they’ve gotten hot? Yeah, so, um, well, it starts up front and they’ve got an act up front and um I think they’re linebackers likewise they’re tuned in. They can run. tackle, uh, very sound that way. Uh, their back end, uh, likewise, they’ve got talent on the back end. All three levels, they’re, they’re, they’re solid and I think they all work together, so. They they’ve done *** nice job. And you mentioned positive attitude *** lot positive attitude. I’m sure there’s times where you wanna go and kick him in the *** *** little bit. Why is it important right now for you guys to maintain positivity for what? I’m, I’m big on reality. What what’s real? Why are, why are we where we are? What can we do to fix that? So, um, that’s, that’s what I look at and try to give the guys that so they. They, they have something to work on. Uh, likewise, as *** coach, that’s how I look at it for myself, for the coaches, um, you know, where are the problems and let’s, let’s work on fixing those. And if you do that, it takes your energy, uh, to get it right and that’s what we’re striving to do. I do. Yeah, that we’re very close, uh, we’re. Um You just got to take care of business. Whatever I say here or what, whatever, um, I say, you know, it’s what you do, and that’s where you’re at, so you gotta, you gotta do it. And fix, fix, uh the issues because you’re, because we’re very close. Uh, one of the cases we can still see Nazi Johnson from in reserve come back before the end of the year. Yeah, um, we’ll have to see on that, man. Um, there’s always that chance, but I have to see where that goes. You mentioned Paul just taking, uh, it’s spot, I guess. What have you, would you guys like to, to get him back here and, and how confident are you in this building? Yeah, we, we thought we saw some talent there and um. And he Knows the scheme obviously and. Uh, we thought there was some growth, he could be *** guy that works in somewhere. All right good good thank you.
