Seattle Seahawks safety Julian Love was a limited participant in practice after being designated to return to from injured reserve on Wednesday.

Defensive tackle Jarran Reed and wide receiver Dareke Young, who were also making their returns from IR, were each full participants.

Ernest Jones IV named NFC Defensive Player of the Week

The Seahawks have a 21-day window to activate each player to the 53-man roster or place them on injured reserve for the remainder of the season.

Head coach Mike Macdonald told reporters before practice they’ll evaluate whether each is activated for Sunday’s game against Atlanta throughout the week.

“We’ll see how it goes,” he said. “I know we have a certain amount of time to activate them, and we’ll either do it this week or we’ll do it another week.”

Macdonald did seem to indicate that Love, who has missed the past eight games with a hamstring injury, may not return this week, even if fully healthy.

“Let’s say everything went perfectly to plan, anytime you’re coming off a stretch where you’re not playing, you gotta have some sort of ramp back in,” Macdonald said of Love. “So that’s how we’re operating.”

In addition to Love, tight end AJ Barner (knee, shoulder), defensive end Rylie Mills (knee) and safety Ty Okada (oblique) were each limited participants in practice.

Seattle had five players listed with rest or non-injury related designations. Defensive linemen Leonard Williams and DeMarcus Lawrence did not practice while wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, linebacker Ernest Jones IV and backup quarterback Drew Lock were limited.

Right guard Anthony Bradford (elbow) and wide receiver Cody White (abdomen) were full participants. Bradford left Sunday’s win over Minnesota in the final minutes of the fourth quarter and did not return.

Macdonald also said veteran tight end Eric Saubert was “coming on strong” and could be a candidate to return to practice next week. Saubert was placed on IR with a calf injury on Nov. 1.

“He’s got some things he needs to hit this week rehab-wise, but optimistic that he’ll hit those things,” Macdonald said.
