Oregon State football is building out its coaching staff under new head coach JaMarcus Shephard, and one position coach will be a familiar face for Beavers fans.

All-time great OSU defensive lineman Inoke Breckterfield is coming back to Corvallis. According to multiple reports, Breckterfield is leaving his job as defensive line coach at Baylor for the same job at OSU.

Breckterfield played for the Beavers from 1995-98, named a third team All-American and first team All-Pac-12 selection his senior year at OSU.

At the time, the Honolulu, Hawaii product finished his career as OSU’s all-time leader in both sacks (19.5) and tackles for loss (55.5). He played five seasons in the Canadian Football League for Toronto and Winnipeg.

Breckterfield got his start in coaching under Mike Riley in 2006, and quickly rose to prominence as one of the top defensive line coaches in the country. He’s been at eight stops since departing OSU after the 2008 season, including two seasons where he crossed over on the Washington staff with Shephard.

So far, OSU’s expected staff under Shephard includes football general manager Eron Hodges, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Mitch Dahlen, wide receivers coach Torrey Gill, and now Breckterfield coaching the defensive line.
