Nahshon Wright had a November to remember. The Chicago Bears cornerback has been one of the best surprises this year in the NFL, and the league made sure to honor him for his play as of late. Wright was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for November thanks to his five takeaways in five games.
The Bears went 5-0 in the month of November, and Wright was a key reason for their success. He intercepted Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Flacco to secure a wild victory in the closing seconds, and he recovered a fumble by New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart in the second half that swung momentum in another comeback victory. Wright had two stellar interceptions in back-to-back weeks against Minnesota Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph, and he thwarted the tush push by forcing a fumble on Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.

According to Chicago Bears senior writer Larry Mayer, Wright’s five takeaways are the most in a the month of November by an NFL player since Bengals defensive back Reggie Nelson in 2015. It was the most for any Bears player in any month since Brian Urlacher in 2007.
Wright joined the Bears on a one-year deal in the offseason and was competing for a depth position throughout training camp. He stood out quickly and was thrust into the starting lineup due to injuries. Wright hasn’t looked back, as he is tied for most interceptions among all cornerbacks with five, along with Carolina Panthers standout Jaycee Horn. He also has three fumble recoveries, along with a defensive touchdown, and has played a significant role in the Bears’ 9-3 record as they sit atop the NFC going into Week 14.
This is the first time a Bears player has earned Defensive Player of the Month honors since Robert Quinn back in 2021.
