DALLAS — Former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders choreographer and “Country Ever After” star Criscilla Anderson has died after a battle with colon cancer.Â
Anderson’s death was announced in a post on her Instagram page.Â
“My sweet community, If you’re reading this, I’ve finally slipped into the arms of Jesus — peacefully and surrounded by love. Please don’t stay in the darkness of this moment. I fought hard and I loved deeply. I am not gone… I’m Home,” the post read.Â
The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders paid tribute to her in a post on social media, writing that her “spirit, talent, and heart she shared will never be forgotten.”
“Her artistry, passion and strength inspired so many in the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders family,” the post read.Â
Throughout her career as a dancer, she’d worked with the likes of Britney Spears and Rihanna. She also starred in the Netflix reality show “Country Ever After” with her husband, country musician Coffey Anderson, in 2020.Â
Coffey Anderson, with whom she shares three children, as USA Today reports, wrote in a post on social media that his wife “defined strength and fighter like no other person on the planet.”
“Heaven gained a star today,” the post read. “We miss you already. Our hearts are shattered. Our minds are jumbled. Our lives will never be the same. The house is quieter because you’re missing. The babies are resilient and strong as ever. We did good with them. So, dance your heart out on the beach in heaven.”
As USA Today reports, Criscilla Anderson was first diagnosed with colon cancer in 2018. She’d been deemed cancer-free in 2021 before it returned in 2022.
According to a health update posted on her Instagram on Nov. 15, Criscilla Anderson had recently had a stroke, and MRI results showed her cancer had spread.Â
“Seven years ago she was given two years to live. Here we are, five years past that prognosis, and she’s still fighting with a grit and grace that humbles us all. Nine days ago she was admitted for cancerous fluid around her heart and a stroke. The night before, her legs went numb. Earlier this week she underwent surgery to drain that fluid — relief that also revealed how much her body has been carrying in silence. This weekend she finally gets to go home. Today an MRI of the brain was done to see if her symptoms were from a stroke or if the cancer had spread… and with heavy hearts, we learned it is in fact cancer,” that post read.Â
