The New York Giants fired Brian Daboll after a 2-8 start to his fourth season as the organization’s head coach, opening an attractive coaching vacancy for prospective candidates.
With rising-star rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart and some elite young offensive weapons like Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo, the Giants could have a bright future ahead in 2026 and beyond.
So, who will take over as the next sideline leader in New York?
According to the latest odds from Sports Betting AG, former Green Bay Packers/Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is the new favorite to take over the job with 3/1 odds.
Giants interim head coach Mike Kafka is listed with 5/1 odds, followed by Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula at 6/1. Klint Kubiak, Joe Brady, Jeff Hafley, Jon Gruden and Jason Garrett are also longer-shot candidates.
Shula had previously been listed as the odds favorite before McCarthy recently took over the top spot.

McCarthy spent 13 seasons at the helm for the Packers, leading the organization to a 204-125 overall record and a Super Bowl title in 2010. He was then hired by the Cowboys in 2020, where he notched an 84-49 record over five seasons. He’s been without a coaching job since his dismissal after Dallas’ 7-10 season in 2024.
McCarthy interviewed for the Giants’ head coaching job in 2020 before ultimately agreeing to coach the Cowboys. New York ended up with Joe Judge, who only lasted two seasons at the head coaching position.
