“This team passes the eye test, and Vrabel had them flying around on all three phases on Monday night.”

Following a comfortable 33-15 win over the Giants on Monday night, the Patriots sit at 11-2 and as the top seed in the AFC. The win extended their win streak to 10 games as they head into a well-deserved bye week.
One recurring segment Patriots fans have been keeping an eye on is Tom Brady’s weekly NFL power rankings. New England has been creeping up the rankings over the course of the season, and this week finally reached the top spot.
While Brady admits what the Patriots have been accused of this year in having an easy schedule, he still believes they’ve done enough to earn his props.
“New England hasn’t played the league’s hardest schedule, it’s actually been the easiest,” Brady stated. “But this team passes the eye test, and Vrabel had them flying around on all three phases on Monday night.”
The Patriots overtook the Los Angeles Rams for the number one position, after the Rams lost a 31-28 shootout to the Carolina Panthers. This loss shot the Rams down the rankings, as they landed in the six spot in Brady’s eyes.
Monday’s victory didn’t just push the Patriots up Brady’s rankings, but also moved quarterback Drake Maye to become the current MVP favorite, with Rams QB Matthew Stafford behind him. Maye threw for 282 yards and two touchdowns, as well as putting up his seventh game of the season without an interception.
Patriots fans may not have wanted to see New England move to the top of this list, however, as Brady believes it might be cursed.
“I don’t really believe in curses,” Brady began his video with. “But this NFL season has me reconsidering things, because the top spot in these rankings might actually be cursed.”
And there does seem to be a trend. The Eagles held the top spot in Week 11, and then lost to the Cowboys. The Rams then took over for one week before their loss to the Panthers.
Fans will have to wait another week to see if the cures holds up though, as the Patriots head into their bye week this week and look to get some players back from injuries.
