The Washington Commanders’ offensive line is beginning to hit its stride—something made clear in their strong performance against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
ASHBURN, Va. — With key players returning and younger talent developing quickly, the Commanders’ offensive line is showing the consistency and cohesion the team has been seeking.
Since right guard Sam Cosmi returned from injury in Week 7, the offensive line has finally enjoyed continuity, and the results are showing on the field.
“Being able to have consecutive games now with the whole O-line—I was thrilled to be back in the mix,” Cosmi said.
Right tackle Josh Conerly Jr. hasn’t missed a snap this season, a workload that has accelerated his development and bolstered the line’s overall chemistry.
“Taking every snap, I’m a lot different—person, player, everything—from when I took that first snap in September,” Conerly shared. “A continuous amount of reps has helped me become more comfortable and confident.”
Cosmi added that their partnership continues to strengthen week by week:
“We’ve been building our chemistry really well. You can see his growth, which has been phenomenal.”
A major factor in Conerly’s progression has been the steady mentorship of five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil.
Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury praised Tunsil’s impact:
“More than I could’ve ever expected. The type of person he is, the character, the way he works and leads the young guys—it’s been phenomenal. The play speaks for itself. It’d be hard to find anyone at his position playing better this season.”
Running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. highlighted the effort the offensive line puts in every week, noting that their film habits stand out:
“They’re coming in early, watching film. We’re in special teams meetings, and they’re still watching film. Even when we’re done, they’re still watching.”
And for Rodriguez, running behind them is a joy:
“When you run behind our O-line, it’s pretty fun. Those dudes up there—they’re tough.”
Cosmi and Conerly both said they believe the Commanders have the best offensive line in the league, and they’re committed to improving every week—meeting the standard set by head coach Dan Quinn.
In addition, good news for Washington, quarterback Jayden Daniels was upgraded to a full participant in practice today. Quinn declined to speculate on his game-day status until Friday, but the signs are trending upward.
As the offensive line continues to gel, the Commanders’ offense looks increasingly poised to take another step forward.
