Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse wide receiver Nick Armentano, who joined the Orange as a preferred walk-on in 2023, said on social media that he plans to enter his name in the transfer portal.

Listed at 5-foot-8 and 185 pounds, Armentano is the first Orange player who has stated a desire to explore their transfer options following this year’s 3-9 season.

Players can enter their names into the transfer portal starting on Jan. 2, but can declare their future plans at any point.

According to Pro Football Focus, Armentano played three snaps on offense this year and seven snaps on special teams. He played three years for Syracuse and probably delivered his highlight in Orange in last year’s Holiday Bowl, when he celebrated the final snap with a smooth backflip.

Armentano played high school football in Staples, Connecticut, and than played a season at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. As a high school senior he had 51 catches for 964 yards and 14 touchdowns.
