Even though the New York Giants aren’t scheduled to play in Week 14 of the 2025 NFL season, veteran quarterback Russell Wilson is bracing to have a busy Sunday. The former Super Bowl champion’s experience with the Giants hasn’t gone as expected, and the team benched him after an unimpressive 0-3 start.
Wilson has taken the field to fill in for rookie sensation Jaxson Dart, but nothing suggests he will stay on the team beyond this campaign. While the Giants rest, the former Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers playmaker will take on a different role.
CBS Sports announced Wilson as its guest analyst on The NFL Today show as part of the network’s Week 14 coverage. Wilson will appear in both NFL Today+ and the NFL Today pregame show.
Wilson has played in six games in 2025, going 69 of 119 for 831 yards and three touchdowns with three sacks. He has carried the ball 18 times for 106 yards.
The Giants lost to the New England Patriots on Monday, 33-15, looking helpless against a team that scored 30 points in the first half. Drake Maye led the way by going 24 of 31 for 282 yards and two touchdowns.
Jaxson Dart responded with 139 yards and on 17 completions. The Giants lost their seventh consecutive game, while the Patriots won their 10th straight duel and improved to 11-2. It’s unclear if Wilson will take the field again this campaign, as he was demoted to QB3.
New York will return to the field against the Washington Commanders in Week 15, hoping to snap their losing skid against another struggling team.
