CLEVELAND, Ohio — Browns center Ethan Pocic is likely lost for the season with what’s believed to be a ruptured Achilles suffered during Sunday’s 31-29 loss to the Titans.

Replays showed a distinct pop in the back of his calf before he crumpled to the ground with 14:48 left in the game.

Pocic was carted off and soon ruled out for the game, being replaced by backup center Luke Wypler.

His loss was felt on a two-point attempt after Shedeur Sanders’ 7-yard touchdown run with 4:27 left in the game when Sanders fumbled the snap from Wypler to keep the score at 31-23.

Coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed that it was an Achilles, and indicated it was likely torn.

“You don’t know till you get the testing but didn’t look good,” he said.

The Browns were already without right tackle Jack Conklin (concussion) and right guard Wyatt Teller (calf), who had been replaced by K.T. Leveston and Teven Jenkins, respectively.

“It’s heartbreaking,” left guard Joel Bitonio said of Pocic, who’s in the final year of his contract. “The guy puts in more work than anybody. Last few weeks too, there’s been so much on his plate, just allowing him to kind of take control of some of the stuff for Shedeur to help him keep growing.

“Guy works his tail off and to see him go down like that is heartbreaking. He’s one of one with that work ethic and kind of what he does. So to see him go down was frustrating and hear how serious it is. So I wish him the best.
