WASHINGTON, D.C. — Washington Commanders defensive end Jake Martin (#55) is hosting a surprise, fully sponsored pet vaccine clinic on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, providing free preventive care for families through the Humane Rescue Alliance’s community medicine program.
Martin will volunteer onsite and is personally covering the cost of all rabies and distemper vaccines administered during the clinic. Families arriving for scheduled services will instead receive vaccinations at no charge at the clinic located at the Humane Rescue Alliance Shelter, 71 Oglethorpe St. NW, Washington, DC 20011, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
With veterinary costs continuing to rise, the Humane Rescue Alliance reports that its community vaccine clinics are often the only affordable option for pet owners experiencing financial strain. Martin’s support is expected to offer meaningful relief and ensure pets across the region can access essential, lifesaving vaccinations during the holiday season.
Martin’s clinic follows earlier community efforts with the Humane Rescue Alliance, including his 55 Rescue Drive campaign launched in November to spotlight large-breed dogs that often face the longest shelter stays. As part of that initiative, Martin helped reduce adoption fees for eligible dogs to $55 and encouraged families to meet the pets through HRA’s team
In his first year with Washington, Martin has continued to expand his commitment to animal welfare. Since joining the Commanders, he has worked closely with the Humane Rescue Alliance to elevate adoption awareness, support long-stay dogs, and help increase access to essential pet care for families across the region. His early involvement has already made an impact locally and reflects the passion he carries with him beyond football.
“As humans it’s our responsibility to be the voice for those who don’t have a voice,” Martin said. “I think it’s important to cherish animals while you have them, take care of them, look out for them.”
The clinic is being held at the Humane Rescue Alliance Shelter on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025. Martin will be onsite from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
