The Pittsburgh Steelers’ Week 15 matchup with the Miami Dolphins will be refereed by Land Clark. His crew has called the second-fewest penalties in the NFL this season at 129, per nflpenalties.com. Clark ranks just ahead of referee Brad Allen, who, along with his crew, has only called 105 penalties this season.

Clark didn’t work in Week 14, but he refereed the Week 13 Sunday Night Football matchup between the Washington Commanders and Denver Broncos. Clark has worked neither a Steelers game nor a Dolphins game this season. The last Steelers game he worked came in the team’s home win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 14 last season. He also worked Pittsburgh’s Week 4 loss against the Indianapolis Colts. This matchup featured a questionable call against then-Steelers S Minkah Fitzpatrick, who will be suiting up for the Dolphins on Monday night.

Offensive holding is Clark and his crew’s most frequently called penalty. It’s been called 27 times this season, followed by 21 false start penalties. They haven’t called any other penalty more than nine times, the number of times they’ve called defensive pass interference.  Defensive offside penalties have been called eight times.

There haven’t been more than 15 penalties called in a game refereed by Clark this season, though he and his crew have called 15 twice. They called 15 penalties in a Week 3 matchup between the New York Giants and Kansas City Chiefs, as well as a Week 4 matchup between the Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints. This season, Clark has called 73 penalties on the home team compared to just 56 by the visitors.

Clark got his start in the college ranks, officiating games in the then-Pac-12. He also worked the 2013 BCS National Championship game between Alabama and Notre Dame and the 2015 Sugar Bowl between Ohio State and Alabama. He first worked in the NFL as a field judge in the 2018 season before being promoted to a referee ahead of the 2020 season.

In January 2024, Clark was honored as a hometown hero at his alma mater, South Sevier High School in Utah, per FOX 13 Now. He also officiated high school football and basketball before making the jump to college officiating.
