Cleveland Browns receiver Jerry Jeudy has had a rough year.
Cleveland Browns receiver Jerry Jeudy took to social media to address the frustration that’s boiled over in recent weeks, including a sideline flare-up directed at quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
Jeudy’s emotions drew attention during Week 13 after broadcast cameras showed him animatedly discussing a miscommunication with Sanders on the bench. The moment came during a difficult outing for the offense and added to a season that has fallen well short of Jeudy’s standard.
The Pro Bowl wideout has struggled to replicate last year’s production, totaling 38 receptions for 497 yards and two touchdowns through 14 weeks. Jeudy addressed the situation on Tuesday in a social media post, offering insight into where the “fire” comes from and reaffirming his commitment.
“If you see emotion, it’s because I care. If you see fire, it’s because I believe. I’m far from perfect but I’m locked in on becoming better every day,” Jeudy said in the post, which featured photos both on and off the field. “The journey ain’t always smooth, but it’s worth it.”
Browns QB Shedeur Sanders Forgives Jerry Jeudy
Sanders and Jeudy appear to have put their sideline tension in the rear-view mirror, and their play against the Tennessee Titans backed that up. Despite the 31-29 loss, Sanders delivered a big performance, throwing for 364 yards and accounting for four touchdowns. Jeudy was a big part of that effort, hauling in three catches for 76 yards — including a 60-yard strike that served as one of the afternoon’s biggest highlights.
Sanders stressed building trust with his receivers and he appears to be finding that with Jeudy.
“Well, I’ll say it’s more faith-based, and just committing to it. Obviously me and Jerry had that dispute or whatever last week. But I have faith in him, he has faith in me, and everybody put everything aside and, ‘okay, cool, let’s go out there, play ball,’” Sanders said. “When you go in situations, you have no negativity, no hate on your heart, no anything, and you out there enjoying, having fun, then that’s the result you’re going to be able to get. So, that was the message in pregame — we all together, we got to be as one, no matter what happens. Good, bad, ugly, we got to stay together. So that’s just a testimony for real.”
Browns Rolling With Shedeur Sanders Rest of Season
The Browns made it official this week, naming Sanders their starting quarterback for the rest of the season — a notable shift from Kevin Stefanski’s earlier week-to-week approach to the position. Stefanski said he’s been impressed with Sanders’ progression and work ethic.
“With our quarterbacks and our young players, you’re always making sure that you’re making the right decisions for our guys. And I think he has constantly and consistently gotten better in each one of these games and how he’s approached his game,” Stefanski said. “He’s been working very hard, so I feel good about where his development is heading. He knows there are always going to be plays that he can be better and those types of things, but he’s very intentional about getting better each and every game he’s out there.”
The Browns head out on the road this week to take on the Chicago Bears. They finish out the year with matchups against the Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals.
