Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London sustained a knee injury in Atlanta’s 30-27 overtime loss against the Carolina Panthers in Week 11. In that contest, London accumulated seven receptions for 119 yards. The extent of the injury was a PCL strain in his left knee. The Falcons reported that London would be week-to-week, but he continues to miss time.
Drake London Continues To Miss Time
Although London was considered week-to-week, he missed the Falcons’ Week 12 game against New Orleans, which they won 24-10. The offense performed well without London, which could have increased hope for the unit to improve when he returned. London was also absent on the field for their Week 13 loss to the New York Jets, where they were defeated 27-24 after New York kicked a field goal to put them ahead by three.
London was day-to-day for their Week 14 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, but he was a nonparticipant for several days of practice that week. Tori McElhaney of the official team site reported on Dec. 3 that London worked with trainers on an opposite field as a nonparticipant during Wednesday’s practice.
London was then ruled out prior to the Seattle game. The Falcons lost 37-9. They held the Seahawks to six points in the first half, but in the second half, things got away from them, and they ultimately lost.
McElhaney reported on Dec. 8 that London was the only nonparticipant in Monday’s practice and is still considered day to day by head coach Raheem Morris. London was also a nonparticipant for Tuesday’s practice. He has missed the last three games in the late-season stretch.
How Does London’s Injury Affect Falcons’ Offense?
With London off the field, it takes away some of the big-play ability the Falcons’ offense could have. London is a tough matchup for any defender and can go up and get any ball thrown his way. He does well with intermediate routes and is known to run a go route, creating space downfield. PFSN has London’s Wide Receiver Impact Score at 85.8.
With London potentially out this week against Tampa Bay, Atlanta will need to rely heavily on the run game, as they usually do, while also depending on other wide receivers like Darnell Mooney and Davis Sills.
The Atlanta Falcons will take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their Week 15 matchup on Thursday.
