The Cowboys’ offense would look wobbly without its WR1, and the fan base has been holding its breath all week after CeeDee Lamb’s scary concussion in the Detroit game.

Any hint of progress on CeeDee Lamb’s concussion timeline matters, especially with Dallas pushing to keep pace in the NFC race. Now there’s finally a signal from inside the building that things are trending in the right direction.

Brian Schottenheimer stepped up with the most encouraging update so far, offering a clear pulse check on Lamb’s status. The Cowboys head coach said on Thursday that CeeDee Lamb is “progressing nicely” through the league’s concussion protocol, per Jon Machota of The Athletic.

Lamb still has “a couple of things” left to complete before the league’s independent specialist can clear him, but Schottenheimer added, “I feel good about that,” signaling confidence in the trajectory of Lamb’s recovery.

Along with HC’s update, reporter Todd Archer noted on X, “CeeDee Lamb was on the field during the open part of practice to the media, but he still has to fully clear the concussion protocol before he can return to play in a game. Seems to be trending in the right direction.”

One day ago, coach Schotty shared a four-word report on CeeDee Lamb’s concussion injury update. He said,  “doing good, progressing nicely,” marking the first clear public sign of improvement since the injury.

The Cowboys have been cautious after CeeDee Lamb exited with a concussion in Week 15, and the medical staff continues to control the pace of his return. Dallas has historically leaned conservative with head injuries, so hearing internal optimism is a meaningful step. The next checkpoint will be whether Lamb can return to full practice participation, which typically precedes final clearance.
