The Kansas City Chiefs have struggled to run the ball in 2025, and the team may be wise to assess the performance of its running backs as the end of the regular season approaches.
On November 23, the Chiefs signed running back Dameon Pierce to bolster the depth of their backfield, but the veteran rusher has yet to take a snap with Kansas City.

During comments to the media this afternoon, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid addressed his vision for Pierce, making clear his admiration for the former Florida Gators star.
“I think he’s (Dameon Pierce) still getting acclimated to everything here,” Reid explained. “I like the kid. I can tell he’s sharp and into it. We don’t have any injuries going on so the guys that know the stuff are playing right now. But I sure like the way he goes about his business. You see why he’s a good player.”
While it remains unlikely that Reid will decide to elevate Pierce from Kansas City’s practice squad in the coming weeks, injuries could force the Chiefs to get creative at the running back position.
