GLENDALE – The last four weeks of production by wide receiver Michael Wilson has been some of the best in Arizona Cardinals history. The injury to his teammate Marvin Harrison Jr., opened the door for the 25-year-old to step into the WR1 role for the first time in his career. Wilson has passed with flying colors, averaging 9.8 catches and 120.3 receiving yards in the past four weeks.

Wilson’s numbers dipped when Harrison returned in Week 13, but went right back to unbelievable the following game, recording 11 catches for 142 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

The former third-round pick is on the greatest stretch of his career, but he’ll face the toughest challenge yet in the Houston Texans this Sunday. Houston has the third-best passing defense in the NFL, but quarterback Jacoby Brissett isn’t worried about Wilson heading into Week 15.

Brissett on how fearless Wilson has been:

“It’s a testament to who he is as a person, and the type of work he does. He has no fear. He has complete trust in me, and I can see that. I can feel that when I throw the ball, and even when its an incompletion, which is very rarely isn’t, he comes back and tells me that it is his fault. I tell him that he doesn’t have to do that, I’m old enough to not be babied. The amount of confidence he gives me, and I feel it when we come out of the huddle, I’m going to Mike.”

The 6’2, 213-pounder has developed into something special for this Cardinals team. However, the only slight asterisk next to Wilson’s production is the competition he played against. During this month-long heater, Wilson has played against the 27th, 25th, 22nd and 16th passing defense in the league, with latter being the Rams, who was missing Darious Williams last week.

Jumping from those level of secondaries to an elite unit like the Texans, who have cornerbacks like Derek Stingley Jr. and Kamari Lassiter, could be a culture shock for Wilson. Week 15 will be the true test if Wilson is capable of being a WR1 option for the franchise against the best competition he’s faced all season.
