KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (KLTV) – Former Whitehouse Wildcat Jermod McCoy announced on Instagram Wednesday night that he is declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft.
McCoy has not played for the Tennessee Volunteers this year due to an ACL injury suffered in January.
McCoy transferred to Tennessee after spending his freshman year at Oregon State. At Oregon State, he led the Beavers with nine passes defended and two interceptions. Last year with the Volunteers, McCoy tallied 44 tackles, 4 interceptions and 13 passes defended in 13 games. He was named a second-team All-American and a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe award, given to the nation’s top defensive back.
In the Instagram post, McCoy thanked his coaches, academic staff, teammates, his family and the fans.
“First, I want to thank God for blessing me with the ability and opportunity to play this game at the highest level. And, even though my time on the field was cut short, I will be forever grateful for my time here at the University of Tennessee,” McCoy said. “It has been a true honor, and I’m appreciative for every moment I had in the orange and white.”
According to ESPN, McCoy is projected to be a first-round draft pick.
