NFL Overreactions: Daniel Jones tears Achilles, Texans beat Chiefs
USA TODAY Sports’ Prince Grimes ‘overreacts’ to some of the best games from Sunday’s Week 14 slate.
The New York Jets (3-10) travel to Jacksonville to face off against the Jaguars (9-4) in Week 15 of the NFL season.
Sunday marks the first road game for the Jets in three weeks, with their last appearance away from home being a 23-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 12.
Since then, Gang Green split a pair of home games. First was a 27-24 upset victory as time expired over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 13.
Then came last week, which was the a demoralizing 34-10 loss in Week 14 to the red-hot Miami Dolphins.
The Jets defense conceded touchdowns on Miami first three drives of the game, down 21-0 in the blink of the eye with any chance of another comeback and their fourth win of the season gone by the time the second quarter started.
The more concerning part for the Jets is current status of the quarterback position.
Starting QB Tyrod Taylor left the game with a groin injury and did not return, leaving undrafted rookie QB Brady Cook under center the rest of the way with backup QB Justin Fields ruled out before the game with knee soreness.
There’s a chance it could be the Cook again in Jacksonville, if head coach Aaron Glenn and the coaching staff want to see more out of the 24-year-old signal caller from Missouri now that the franchise has officially been eliminated from playoff contention.
It’s the complete opposite story for the Jaguars in 2025, who are the No. 3 seed in the AFC and lead their division by one game over the Houston Texans (8-5) and Indianapolis Colts (8-5).

The pick:Â Jaguars 30, Jets 10
Here’s why:Â It’s uncertain right now who will be under center for the Jets on Sunday but it won’t matter in his spot. The Jaguars are an eye-popping 12-point favorite for a reason, playing their best football of the season and are at home against a Jets run defense that just surrendered an outrageous 239 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground to running backs at home.
This one will likely get out of hand quickly regardless who is at QB, as the Jets struggle mightily again and the Jaguars continue to put together one of their best seasons in recent memory.
Dave Rivera
The pick: Jaguars 31, Jets 9
Here’s why: Last week against the Dolphins was about as ugly as it could get for the Jets. Don’t see a reason why things will turn around this week against a playoff-bound Jacksonville team.
Brian Marron
The pick: Jaguars 27, Jets 10
Here’s why: The Jaguars are emerging as a possible contender in the AFC, and can still win the AFC South. So this is a game Jacksonville must win. Combine that with the uncertainty for the Jets at quarterback this week, and this could be a snoozer to watch.
Bob Jordan
The pick: Jaguars 23, Jets 10
Here’s why: The spread is a silly 12 points but the Jags can cover and you can count on defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile – an assistant when Rutgers in 2012 finished fourth in the nation in scoring defense (14.15 points allowed per game), albeit in the old Big East – doing his part to keep any number of Jets’ quarterbacks in check.
