The New York Jets enter Week 15 surrounded by uncertainty at quarterback. Consecutive missed practices, a shifting depth chart, and the aftereffects of injuries have complicated an already difficult season. With the week’s final practice approaching, the Jets’ plans remain unresolved, keeping the suspense high as Sunday nears.

Who Will Be the Jets’ Week 15 Starting QB?
Thursday’s update from ESPN’s Rich Cimini offered no clarity. Justin Fields (knee) and Tyrod Taylor (groin) were both not spotted at practice for the second straight day. Consecutive DNPs create a realistic possibility that neither veteran will be available against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Cimini added that the absence of both passers left Brady Cook and practice squad quarterback Adrian Martinez to run Thursday’s session, further highlighting how thin the depth chart has become.

Unless Fields or Taylor participates in any capacity on Friday, Cook appears positioned to start in Week 15.
The uncertainty stems from events that occurred earlier in the week. As PFSN’s Priyanshu Choudhary reported days ago, the Jets’ quarterback situation had already undergone major shifts. A 3–10 start under new head coach Aaron Glenn led the team to bench Fields in favor of Taylor.
But against Miami in Week 14, Taylor suffered what Choudhary described as a major setback. The injury moment wasn’t clear live, but Adam Schefter later confirmed the issue on X, stating, “Jets QB Tyrod Taylor has a groin injury and his questionable to return today.”
During Taylor’s brief run as the starter, the offense showed its best stretch of the year, averaging 18.5 points per game and capturing a 27–24 win over Atlanta in Week 13. Yet with the Jets’ season already sliding out of competitive range, Choudhary noted that long-term rebuilding plans, built on draft picks from the Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner trades, are becoming the franchise’s focus.
Fields, sidelined last week with the same knee issue keeping him out now, never entered the game after Taylor’s exit. His continued absence reinforces the likelihood that Week 15 will belong to Cook, unless Friday brings an unexpected return.

In the backfield, there was at least one encouraging sign. Cimini reported that Breece Hall (knee) returned to positional drills Thursday after sitting out Wednesday, as he pushes toward his first 1,000-yard season.
The Jets’ struggles this year are also reflected in PFSN’s Offense Impact metric, where the Jets’ 2025 profile lists a 3–10 record, a 62.0 offensive impact score ranked 29th, and a D-minus grade, along with an overall rank of 798.
The accompanying table highlights how poorly the offense has performed compared to the rest of the league, further underscoring why instability at quarterback has been so damaging.
As of now, the Jets’ Week 15 starter is trending toward Brady Cook. Unless Fields or Taylor practices on Friday, the rookie appears to be the only healthy option as the Jets prepare for the Jaguars.
