NATCHEZ — It has been nearly 15 years since Brian Isaac graduated from Natchez High School. Yet at the age of 33, his football journey continues.
The most recent part of Isaac’s incredible journey is as an international football player. He plays for Team USA International, which he said earlier this week has players from all 50 states who are from different backgrounds.
Earlier this month, Team USA International defeated the National Team 13-0 in Hawaii 13-0 to win the world championship. The team he plays on is part of Minor League Football.
“It’s more like a football retreat, but it’s a real league,” Isaac said. “I had five tackles, one interception, one pass break-up, and one kickoff return for 45 yards,” Isaac said. “I played cornerback, free safety, and rover as a hybrid nickel back. I could’ve played some offense.”
He joined Team USA International after about a year after not playing football in over three years because of real-life situations.
“When I was in Hawaii, I felt recharged. I played multiple positions. The game was intense. The team I was on last year, the Amarillo Dusters, folded up.
After graduating from Natchez High, Isaac went to Copiah-Lincoln Community College and played for the Wolves in 2011 and 2012. During his time there, he was also part of the Honor Society.
Then he continued his career at the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he played in 2013 before returning to Natchez in 2014, where he worked at the Adams County Sheriff’s Department for then-Sheriff Chuck Mayfield.
Then he left Natchez in 2015 and stayed in Colorado with his brother. It was during that time that he decided to give football another try.
“My first tryout was with the Colorado Crush. Then they folded. Next, I signed with the Colorado Crush and they folded,” Isaac said. “I used my film from high school and showed it to the Amarillo Dusters. We lost in the title game 48-45.
