LOS ANGELES — As the Rams prepare for their chance to clinch a playoff spot with a win this weekend, they expect to be at full strength Sunday against the Detroit Lions.

Wide receiver Davante Adams will be listed as questionable after missing practice Wednesday and Thursday with a hamstring injury he has been managing. While he was listed as a partial participant Friday, McVay said prior to practice that he would participate in team drills and is expected to play against the Lions.

“Would be very surprised if he isn’t ready to roll,” McVay said. “And that’s what his mindset and mentality has been all week.”

In addition to having the NFL’s leader in touchdown receptions, the Rams (10-3) will have wide receiver Tutu Atwell back on the active roster after he missed seven games on injured reserve following a hamstring injury in Week 6 against the Ravens.

He will return to an offense that has evolved significantly in his absence, incorporating a high rate of 13-personnel looks as tight ends have become a bigger part of the offense.

“A guy that we wanted to be able to get up,” McVay said. “It’s a good problem for us to figure out how to utilize his skill set because there’s been an emergence of a lot of guys, not exclusive to just receivers, since he’s gone out. But he’s a guy that can influence and affect the game in a positive way.”

Atwell – who had four catches in the Rams’ first six games after signing a $10 million contract to return to the team for 2025 – has been healthy enough to play the past two games. But the Rams opted not to activate him off injured reserve for either contest, citing the need to keep certain players on the roster for special teams purposes.

“He’s been a pro about it,” McVay said. “He wants to get out there and compete and contribute and be able to positively help this team. He’s done that in a lot ways that maybe isn’t always reflected in some of the games that you guys have seen, but he’s making an impact.”

To make room for Atwell on the active roster, the Rams waived outside linebacker Nick Hampton on Tuesday and later re-signed him to the practice squad.

McVay said the decision was purely a numbers crunch. But the Rams could afford to make the move after a strong performance from defensive lineman Desjuan Johnson last week against the Cardinals.

The third-year lineman has been a healthy scratch for much of the season, suiting up only once prior to Week 14. But against the Cardinals, he had six pressures and two quarterback hits in 21 pass rush opportunities all while playing at outside linebacker.

“He’s a guy that you can move around,” Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula said. “Depending on the matchup that week, we see him as a guy that could play D-line for us. He’s obviously athletic enough to play on the edge, athletic enough to drop and do different things. He’s a guy that has a really good skill set and you saw him get in there last week and get some action. He did a really good job.”
