MIAMI GARDENS — It’s Year 2 for South Florida Sun Sentinel Dolphins columnist Chris Perkins and Dolphins writer David Furones picking prop bets, which they’ll do for all 17 regular-season games.

Prior to each game, Furones and Perkins will select a “Best Bet” and a “Longshot.” The “Best Bet” selection is a near 50-50 proposition while the “Longshot” is at least +300 or a 3-to-1 probability.

They don’t place dollar amounts on their bets, but you’re welcome to wager as much as you can afford.

Furones is 9-4 on his “Best Bets” while Perk is an abysmal 3-10. On the “Longshot,” Furones is 4-9 and Perk, off of last week’s win, is 2-11.

Perkins and Furones use the Hard Rock Bet app for odds. Be sure to check the Sun Sentinel predictions for Sunday’s outlook.

Perk’s Best Bet: De’Von Achane anytime TD (-110)

This should be a no-brainer, but you’ve got to think Pittsburgh (7-6), which badly needs a victory, will focus in on Achane more than any previous opponent. I’m putting more faith in coach Mike McDaniel’s play-calling and the offensive line’s blocking than the Steelers’ defensive focus.

Furones’ Best Bet: Aaron Rodgers under 216.5 passing yards (-115)

Rodgers knows how to play in the cold. It’s certainly not that. But I sense Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver remembers the two games Rodgers had against his defense last season with the Jets. In a different system, Weaver and his new-look secondary this season, which is playing great, keep Rodgers below this number, one Rodgers failed to reach in four straight before he threw for 284 last week against the Ravens.

Furones got the De’Von Achane rushing yards over last week against the Jets at the buzzer. Achane notched it on his final carry before going down with the rib injury. Perk missed with his pick for Breece Hall, whom he will say didn’t lose but rather ran out of time.

Perk’s Longshot: DK Metcalf 2nd half TD (+300)

Metcalf is big, strong and fast, and the thinking here is Rodgers can’t resist this matchup. As the game wears on, Metcalf’s talents will produce either in a big play or in a red-zone situation.

Furones’ Longshot: Three-leg parlay of Jaylen Waddle under 60.5 receiving yards, Greg Dulcich over 17.5 receiving yards and De’Von Achane over 3.5 receptions (+500)

Waddle has been below this number in three games in a row, and although the Steelers pass defense hasn’t been good, the cold may affect QB Tua Tagovailoa getting him the ball on the outside. I do, however, like Tua to continue to build on chemistry he has developed with Dulcich, who has reached his figure in each of the five games where he has played meaningful snaps for Miami. Achane only has one reception in the past two games (one where he left early), and getting back to throwing him the ball in the flat seems like a good way for him to protect his ribs, running out in space.

Perk is finally back in the win column after his Ollie Gordon II anytime touchdown longshot last week. Furones wasn’t as fortunate with his Darren Waller pick.
