While soccer has long been dubbed the world’s game because of how many countries around the world are invested in the sport, football, ahem, sorry, American football has mainly been a sport played in the United States.

But the National Football League (NFL) has been aggressively working to change that, with this season featuring not just the most games abroad (7) but also seeing games in continents that the NFL hasn’t been to before. This year saw 6.2 million average viewers for the International Games

The Detroit Lions have become one of the most hyped and talked about teams in the NFL ever since the Dan Campbell era began, with their franchise-best season last year driving record-sales numbers (and viewership numbers) over the best couple of years.
So it isn’t all that surprising that the Lions will play a game overseas next season to bring their franchise-driving hype to a new legion of fans. The question is: where will they play?

Personally, it would be cool to see them outside of London. But nothing will be known for sure until the NFL confirms the schedule sometime next year. Either way, don’t be surprised if the Lions get priority booking.
