There was no shortage of action as Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers took on the Chicago Bears in a Week 14 rivalry showdown. It was a tightly contested affair, but in the end, the Packers secured a 28-21 victory at Lambeau Field.

Love turned in another strong performance in the victory, registering 17-of-25 completed passes for 234 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. The 27-year-old quarterback led Green Bay to its fourth straight win, improving to 9-3-1 on the season.

There was one particular incident during the game that caught the referees’ attention, and it involved Love. The NFL has reviewed the play in question and has made a punishment decision.

The Packers’ offensive line deserves a ton of credit for the protection it provided its star quarterback against the Bears. Much like they have for the better part of the season, Green Bay’s o-line was on point yet again in the rivalry showdown against Chicago, affording Love with ample time in the pocket throughout the contest.

At one point in the game, however, Packers guard Aaron Banks was called for a penalty for a violation while providing interior protection for Love. Banks was caught grasping the face mask of Chicago defensive tackle Grady Jarrett as the latter attempted to get to Love. Banks prevented Jarrett from a potential sack on Love, but Banks did so illegally, resulting in a 15-yard penalty against Green Bay for a facemask violation.

Love was able to complete a 6-yard pass to Josh Jacobs on the play, but it was negated because of Banks’ penalty. That sequence set Green Bay back to its own 20-yard line, forcing the Packers to eventually punt on the drive.

The NFL Officiating Department has reviewed the incident and decided not to penalize Banks for his actions. According to the NFL’s rulebook, a facemask penalty is eligible for a fine of $11,593 for a first offense and $17,389 for a second.

Banks has not been fined for his incident against Chicago. The 28-year-old guard was not included in the list of fines that was announced on Saturday via the league’s gameday accountability report.

The Packers are back in action on Sunday for a Week 15 matchup against the 11-2 Denver Broncos on the road. The 9-4 Bears, on the other hand, will face Shedeur Sanders and the 3-10 Cleveland Browns in a home game at Soldier Field.
