It has not had much to cheer about, but the backup quarterback role has been good for Arizona.

Cardinals embarrassed and outplayed by Texans in 40-20 loss

Kyler Murray has been out (foot) since week five of the season versus Tennessee on Oct. 5, yet Jacoby Brissett is putting together quality tape in the National Football League. The 33-year-old journeyman signal caller is near 3,000 (2,708) passing yards through 11 games for the Cardinals. He has 18 touchdown passes to six interceptions, including eight matchups with 2+ scoring tosses. Brissett produced another strong outing in Sunday’s game against Houston — tallying a season-high three touchdown passes. He connected with tight end Trey McBride 12 times — two touchdowns — for 134 yards on 13 targets.

Brissett and Arizona suffered a 20-40 loss, dropping the program to 3-11 on the year. He is having a campaign to where he would be back for his second season as a backup to Murray, or a new NFL team may present with a contract he cannot refuse.

We will see how things continue with Brissett and the Cards, but he has been the bright spot for this year.
