Remember all that shock, disappointment and hurt felt by Dallas Cowboys fans after Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones traded star edge-rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.

Well, Packers nation is now literally feeling a similar type of sharp and sudden pain and frustration after a non-contact knee injury has almost certainly ended the star-studded Parsons first season in green and gold.

The Packers fear that Parsons tore his anterior cruciate ligament while changing direction when he was trying to chase down Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix in the third quarter of Green Bay’s 34-26 loss.

While the game dropped the Packers into second place in the NFC North, and other key players were injured including wide receiver Christian Watson and offensive tackle Zach Tom, even the most positive fans understood the sudden swerve in Green Bay’s chances at a deep postseason run without the game-changing ability of Parsons.

A victory over the Chicago Bears next week would put the Packers back in the top spot in the division with just two games to play, but it was hard for fans to look forward when it appeared likely that Parsons’ injury was significant. You can’t replace consistent weekly quarterback pressure and 12 ½ sacks on the waiver wire.
