JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Do you believe now?
If you don’t, all I can say at this point is stay on that side, because what else do you need to see?
The NFL is a pretty balanced league. Blowouts don’t happen often, but the Jaguars have had blowout wins in four of their last five games. Oh, mind you, the one game that wasn’t a blowout they still won.
All I heard early in the season was that the turnovers would dry up eventually. Well, it is December, and the Jags had another three-turnover game. The Jags have literally only had three games this season where they haven’t had a turnover. So, the turnovers aren’t a fluke.
Travis Etienne a few years ago was being compared to Christian McCaffery. Well, injuries slowed down the comps a little bit, but Etienne caught three touchdowns against the Jets. That matches the amount he had caught in his career. Yep, in his career.
The Jags offense is rolling right now.
And it starts and ends with Trevor Lawrence.
He is playing like that guy. Not a guy, but that guy. He is playing like QB1. Like the quarterback that people have always expected and believed he could be.
Nobody has played more football with Lawrence than Etienne. They have been together their whole NFL careers and in college. Etienne said that this is the most confident he has ever seen Lawrence play. Ever. And they won the national championship at Clemson.
It’s clicked.
We have seen Lawrence get hot before and have the offense rolling, but not like this. Not this hot.
Lawrence is the only QB to ever have over 300 yards passing, five passing touchdowns, 50 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown in a game. The only guy to ever do that.
It’s clicked.
Liam Coen was hired to get the most out of Lawrence. To do for the Jaguars quarterback what he had done for Will Levis in college and for Baker Mayfield in Tampa.
Well, job well done, coach. At least on that front because Lawrence is rolling. But the job is not finished yet.
And the No. 1 seed isn’t out of play yet. The Jags have three games left. They will need a little help, but the road through the AFC could go through Jacksonville.
No, it’s not a dream, this is reality.
