JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jets lost 48-20 to the Jaguars on Sunday to drop to 3-11. Here are some thoughts and observations from the game:

1. It is stunning how far the Jets defense has fallen. They went from being a very good unit in 2022 and 2023 to an OK defense in 2024 to a terrible defense in 2025. Yes, Steve Wilks is a problem. But this is not all on him. There are talent issues at every level of the defense.

Now, this falls on general manager Darren Mougey and head coach Aaron Glenn to fix it in the offseason. But their to do list is a long one and Fernando Mendoza does not play linebacker.

Starting up front, the Jets need to bolster their pass rush. They should be OK with two first-round picks at edge rusher but Jermaine Johnson and Will McDonald have had little impact this season. The Jets need to add a third rusher to this group like they had with Bryce Huff. Inside, they can live with Harrison Phillips and Jowon Briggs in 2026, but need to add some youth to the room for the future.
