Entering their Week 15 meeting, the Pittsburgh Steelers had won 22 consecutive Monday night home games and the Miami Dolphins had lost nine consecutive games with a kickoff temperature colder than 40 degrees.
Those streaks continued as the Steelers defeated the Dolphins 28-15 on Monday night at Acrisure Stadium, where the game started at 17 degrees.
Pittsburgh quarterback Aaron Rodgers completed 23-of-27 passes for 224 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Rodgers had the fourth game for a Steelers quarterback with that many passes that featured a completion rate of 85 percent or higher.
Both of Rodgers’ TD passes came in the third quarter, when Pittsburgh expanded its 7-3 halftime lead to a 21-3 advantage and started the drive that put the Steelers up 28-3 with 13:01 to play.
By improving to 8-6, Pittsburgh took a one-game lead over the Baltimore Ravens as the top of the AFC North standings. The Steelers have three games remaining on their regular-season schedule, including against Baltimore in the finale. The Steelers defeated the Ravens 27-22 on Dec. 7.
The loss ended Miami’s four-game winning streak and eliminated the Dolphins from playoff contention as they dropped to 6-8.

Dolphins linebacker K.J. Britt (Oxford, Auburn) did not record any stats.Steelers offensive lineman Jack Driscoll (Auburn) dressed for the game but did not play. Pittsburgh elevated Driscoll from its practice squad to make him eligible to play.Minkah Fitzpatrick (Alabama) started at safety for the Dolphins. Fitzpatrick made six tackles and recorded one tackle for loss. Fitzpatrick left the game in the fourth quarter because of a calf injury.Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill (West Alabama) is on injured reserve and not eligible to play.Steelers defensive tackle Brodric Martin (Northridge, North Alabama) was designated as a game-day inactive.Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama) started at quarterback for the Dolphins. Tagovailoa completed 22-of-28 passes for 253 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. He was sacked four times. Tagovailoa threw two touchdown passes to tight end Darren Waller – a 6-yarder with 9:41 to play and a 13-yarder with 2:32 remaining.Dolphins offensive tackle Kadeem Telfort (UAB) is on the practice squad and not eligible play.Jaylen Waddle (Alabama) started at wide receiver for the Dolphins. Waddle had two receptions for 26 yards.Steelers punter Corliss Waitman (South Alabama) averaged 46.2 yards on five punts, with a 39.4-yard net. Waitman had a 49-yard punt returned 7 yards to the Miami 29-yard line, a 42-yarder for a touchback, a 40-yarder downed at the Miami 31, a 48-yarder returned 7 yards to the Miami 14 and a 50-yarder downed at the Miami 3.

In its next game, Pittsburgh plays the Detroit Lions at 3:25 p.m. CST Sunday at Ford Field in Detroit.
