Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers saw their four-game winning streak snapped on Sunday courtesy of the Denver Broncos. It was a forgettable outing for Love as the 27-year-old quarterback finished with 24-of-40 completed passes for 276 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He also added 29 rushing yards on three carries.
It was not a terrible performance from the Packers star, but it fell below Love’s high standards this season. It also wasn’t enough to lead his team to a victory against a red-hot Broncos side, which has now stacked up 11 straight wins.

Love was also involved in a contentious incident during the game — one that will now require an NFL investigation for potential punishment.

The Packers fell to 9-4-1 after the loss to Denver. They are second in the NFC North behind the 10-4 Chicago Bears and are currently seventh in the conference. The good news for Green Bay is that, according to the NFL Playoff Picture prediction model, their odds of securing a postseason berth remain at 88% despite Sunday’s defeat.

As for the Broncos, they will now need to wait for the NFL’s decision on an incident involving Love in the second quarter of the Week 15 matchup. It was defensive lineman Zach Allen who was flagged for a personal foul on Love after the former went in hard on the Packers QB.
Allen’s tackle on Love was late and low. The Green Bay star had already released the ball by the time Allen delivered the hit. Love’s pass found Luke Musgrave for a 16-yard gain. However, after Allen was assessed with a roughing the passer infraction on the play, a 15-yard penalty was added for Green Bay.

The Packers, though, were not able to score a touchdown on the drive. They settled for a 35-yard field goal with five seconds remaining in the quarter, which gave them a 16-14 lead heading into the halftime break.
According to the NFL rulebook, “any physical acts against a player who is in a passing posture” that is deemed unwarranted by the game official can be flagged for a roughing the passer penalty. The violation is eligible for a $17,389 fine for a first offense and a $23,186 fine for a second.
Allen will now need to wait for the league’s decision on whether his foul will warrant a retroactive fine. This decision will be announced on Saturday via the gameday accountability report.

Love and the Packers will be back in action on Saturday in a crucial divisional showdown against the Bears. The Broncos, on the other hand, face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday for Week 16.
