The New York Jets were excited about turning the corner under new head coach Aaron Glenn and quarterback Justin Fields, after the Robert Saleh and Aaron Rodgers experiments ended horribly. Unfortunately for the Jets and their fans, things have gone horribly wrong for the franchise.

While Rodgers is in a playoff position as the quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Saleh has his unit humming as the defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers, the Jets are 3-11 on the season, and Fields has been benched.

Glenn has had a rough time of things; not only have the results been poor on the field, but he’s also had multiple clashes with the media, never a recipe for success in New York City. N

On Sunday, the Jets suffered yet another embarassing defeat, losing 48-20 to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now, a major change to the coaching staff is in order, according to one prominent insider around the league.

“Jets fired their defensive coordinator Steve Wilks,” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Firing Wilks feels like Jets management is punishing the messenger instead of fixing the defense. Blaming coordinators is easier than fixing structural issues,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“Man steve wilks better not take anymore NFL jobs….dude been fired more times than tommy from martin,” another fan added.

“Would have preferred the Jets coaching staff stay together and intact for another full season (at least) before making big moves. We must take the revolving door off One Jets Drive. I know from investing in stocks to give value time to grow,” someone else wrote.

It’ll be interesting to see if any more sweeping changes come to the organization before the season wraps.
