New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart has had an impressive rookie season despite the team’s 2-12 record. Following Sunday’s loss to the Washington Commanders, the Giants have now dropped eight consecutive games.
In the 29-21 divisional defeat, Dart added to his strong rookie campaign by achieving another historic milestone.
Dart became the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to record multiple games with 240-plus passing yards, 60-plus rushing yards, and at least two total touchdowns. He also became the first quarterback in league history to accumulate 1,800-plus passing yards, 400-plus rushing yards, and 20-plus total touchdowns in his first nine career regular-season starts.
It’s reasonable to speculate what Dart’s numbers might have looked like had he started the entire season. He did not start the Giants’ first three games and also missed time in concussion protocol. His aggressive playing style has drawn criticism throughout the season, and he might have missed additional time due to injury had he been the starter from the outset.
Moreover, star receiver Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo were sidelined for significant portions of the season with injuries, meaning Dart’s production could have been even higher with his top offensive weapons available.
With three games remaining, Dart has the chance to further enhance his rookie resume. Regardless, he has already established himself as one of the standout rookies of the 2025 season.
