The Commanders have been decimated by injury, and things continue only to get worse. Jayden Daniels has battled injuries all season, and with two games against the Eagles upcoming, Washington has shut down their franchise quarterback for the final three games. According to Ian Rapoport, Daniels was re-evaluated on Monday and has not yet been cleared after aggravating his elbow injury in the game against Minnesota. With Daniels expected to be medically ruled out for Saturday against the Eagles‘ stout pass rush, then facing a short week vs. the Cowboys on Christmas, the final decision was made on Monday.

On Tuesday, the roster shuffling continued, as Washington announced six roster moves as preparation for Week 16 gets underway on a short week.

Washington currently has 11 players on Injured Reserve, not including McLaurin (quad), who has dealt with injury. In Week 9 alone, the Commanders lost Luke McCaffrey (collarbone) and cornerback Marshon Lattimore (ACL) to injury, as well as their starting quarterback.

Daniel will miss games against the Eagles in Week 16 and Week 18, along with a Week 17 contest against the Dallas Cowboys. The NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2024, Daniels missed his seventh game of the season Sunday against the Giants and will miss 10 games overall. He will finish his second year 114-188 passing, for 1,262 yards (6.7 avg), eight touchdowns, three interceptions, an 88.1 rating, a 45.9 QBR, while getting sacked 18 times.

Marcus Mariota has been named the starter for the final three games.
