Texas A&M’s 2025 linebacker room is led by junior Taurean York, who burst onto the college football scene during his 2023 freshman season, earning the starting middle linebacker spot under former head coach Jimbo Fisher during his final season. Ever since, York, a three-star prospect out of high school, is on his way to becoming a Day 2 selection in the 2026 NFL Draft.
This spring, York challenged himself to increase his level of play in 2025 after leading the Aggies with 82 tackles last season, including his first career interception against LSU and four pass deflections. Areas where York can improve include finding consistency as a run defender and finishing tackles, which the entire A&M defense struggled with in 2024.

With new defensive assistant Lyle Hemphill on the 2025 staff, York’s eye discipline and positioning in pass coverage should also improve, making him one of the players to watch from a national scouting perspective. Pro Football Focus agrees, listing York as one of the ten college linebackers to watch ahead of the season and the 2026 draft.
Standing 6’0″ and 235 pounds, York possesses speed and sideline-to-sideline agility to tackle running backs in space, sift through screens, and occasionally cover tight ends in the seam due to his size. Paired with senior Scooby Williams, Texas A&M’s 2025 linebacker rotation looks like a strength, despite the lack of depth.
Here is the rest of PFF’s Top 10 linebackers to watch this season:
