GREEN BAY (WLUK) — Families experiencing homelessness will be warmer this winter, thanks to a Green Bay Packers wide receiver.

On Tuesday, rookie Matthew Golden and his girlfriend, Devon, helped distribute coats, hats and shoes to 72 individuals at Freedom House, a homeless shelter in Green Bay. A meal was also provided to the recipients as part of the event.

According to officials, there are more than 200 families experiencing homelessness each day in Brown County. That equates to roughly 600 people without stable housing.

Freedom House offers hope, support and tools to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, with the goal of helping set them up for long-term success, stability and sustainable independence. Since its founding, it has provided emergency shelter and comprehensive support services to countless families who have nowhere else to turn.
