Suddenly, the NFL’s schedule for Christmas Day looks a bit unappealing for a national audience.

The Denver Broncos (12-2) are scheduled to go on the road to face the Kansas City Chiefs (6-8) in a Christmas Day special edition of Thursday Night Football on Prime Video. The Broncos could potentially clinch an AFC West title and possibly the conference’s No. 1 seed in that game, but the Chiefs have already been eliminated from playoff contention.

Kansas City has also lost star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who tore his ACL and LCL in Week 15. So it’s shaping up to be Gardner Minshew vs. Bo Nix on Dec. 25, with nothing on the line for the Chiefs.

The rest of the Christmas slate is also underwhelming. First, the Dallas Cowboys (6-7-1) will face the Washington Commanders (4-10), then the Detroit Lions (8-6) will take on the Minnesota Vikings (6-8). The Cowboys are one Philadelphia Eagles win away from being knocked out of playoff contention. The Commanders are already eliminated, as are the Vikings. The Lions have about a 26% chance of reaching the postseason.

First things first, Denver will host the Jacksonville Jaguars (10-4) at Empower Field at Mile High on Sunday before turning attention toward the Kansas City game.
