Los Angeles Rams star wideout Puka Nacua didn’t hold back while speaking about NFL officials on Tuesday night.
“The refs are the worst,” he told streamers Adin Ross and N3on (h/t ESPN’s Sarah Barshop). “… Some of the rules aren’t … These guys want to be … these guys are lawyers. They want to be on television too. You don’t think he’s texting his friends in the group chat like, ‘Yo, you guys just saw me on Sunday Night Football. That wasn’t pass interference, but I called it.'”
When asked if he thought referees would really call a penalty even when they didn’t think an actual infraction occurred, Nacua responded: “I mean, these guys are normal human beings too, bro.”
NFL personnel are subject to fines for publicly criticizing officials, so it’s possible Nacua’s wallet is about to be a little lighter this holiday season.
