DETROIT – Several Detroit Lions players were doing the same celebration during their game against the Rams, but then, the referees apparently told them the next time it would be a penalty.
You might have noticed Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Jahmyr Gibbs all doing the “nose flick” celebration during the Lions’ first drive of the game Sunday.
But on his podcast this week, St. Brown said the officials threatened to hit the Lions with a penalty if anyone did that celebration again.
“What happened to your booger first-down celebration?” his brother, Equanimeous, asked. “You guys stopped doing it.”
“We do it the first drive,” St. Brown said. “Our receivers coach comes up after the first drive, ‘Hey, man, the ref said you guys can’t do that no more.
“Why is that bad? I want to know: NFL, why can’t I dig in my nose and flick it? There’s no way. What is bad about that. Is that disrespectful? Is that derogatory?”
