New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn announced on Wednesday that rookie Brady Cook would be his team’s starting quarterback when they play the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. It will be the second straight start for Cook, who was at the helm during the Jets 48-20 loss at the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.

Cook is the third player to start at quarterback for New York this season. He got his first action of the year after replacing Tyrod Taylor during a Week 14 loss to the Miami Dolphins. In that game, he completed 14 of 30 passes for 160 yards with 2 interceptions and 6 sacks. Against the Jaguars, Cook was 22 of 36 for 176 yards with 1 touchdown and 3 interceptions while being sacked 3 times.

Quarterback Justin Fields started the season for a Jets offense that ranks dead last in passing yardage, second to last in yards per completion, 29th in touchdown passes, and 30th in sacks allowed. The 3-11 Jets will face a New Orleans Saints defense that ranks 11th overall and 6th against the pass.

An undrafted rookie out of Missouri, Brady Cook completed 65.9% of his passes for 9,251 yards with 50 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in his collegiate career with the Tigers. At Missouri, Cook played for offensive coordinator Kirby Moore for his last two years. Kirby Moore is the younger brother of Kellen Moore, head coach of the Saints. Brady Cook will square off on Sunday against fellow rookie quarterback Tyler Shough, who has started the last six games for New Orleans.
