Former New England Patriots pass rusher Matthew Judon was released by the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
Miami was Judon’s second destination after being traded by the Patriots to the Atlanta Falcons last year. He played in 13 games for the Dolphins this season and recorded 19 tackles, one pass deflection and no sacks.
These statistics are a far cry from his time in New England, where he was viewed as a top-tier pass rusher. All told, he recorded 32 sacks over the course of 38 games with the Patriots. He was traded to the Falcons in the final year of his contract in exchange for a 2025 third-round draft pick.
Judon may not be the player he once was, but his contributions to the Patriots are certainly not forgotten. He was the cornerstone of the defense during his run with the team.
Now, at 33 years old, the NFL world will have to wait and see what’s next for the former four-time Pro Bowler.
